What have we learnt so far this term? 

Communication

Literacy  - Snail Trail - Ruth Brown

Literacy  - Mad About Minibeasts - Giles Andeae

Communication, Language and Literacy - Through our stories, we are learning new language related to minibeasts, and developing  our comprehension skills by answering questions using colourful semantics. 

Maths

Mathematics - We are learning about numbers functionally, working out word problems, using addition and subtraction. Exploring properties of  2d and 3d shapes.

PSHE

Personal, Social, and Emotional Development (PSED) - 

We are learning about and developing our understanding of how different people have different ‘special people’ in their lives. Identifying special people in our lives eg. grandparents and family friends!

Understanding the World

Understanding the World (Science) We are learning about living things and their habitats.

Understanding the World (Geography) - Next half term our focus will be on identifying and labelling minibeasts that live in our local area. Using geographical language to describe minibeasts habitats.

Expressive Arts and Design

Expressive Arts and Design (Drama) Our EAD focus for the first half term is Drama. We are developing our drama skills by reenacting different minibeasts such as going to the Ugly Bug Ball, Bugs life - going around the leaf and Flight of the bumblebee. We are developing our drama skills by creating a performance as a production to share with the other classes.

 

Expressive Arts and Design (Art) - Next half term our focus in EAD will be Art. We will be developing our skills with drawing with a focus upon drawing the landscapes of Bradford  St Georges Hall, The Alhambra, Science and Media Museum, Bradford Cathedral.

Physical Development

Physical Development (PE)   We are learning new skills linked to scarf and ribbon dancing and also parachute dances!

RE

Understanding the world (RE) - We are learning about new life and how we celebrate when babies are born. We are learning about how special our names are, and how different religions have ‘naming ceremonies’.
