Class 13

Spring

What have we learned so far this term?

Communication

Literacy -
Text 1: Snail Trail By Ruth Brown
This half term our story is all about a Snail who goes on a trail through the forest and experiences lots of adventures. We have explored leaves, flowers and sticks and have had the opportunity to go outdoors to enjoy story sessions.

Literacy writing - During Literacy writing we have been persisting in taking hold of a range of tools using a palmer grasp. Pupils have been able to explore the tools in their hands and use them with a purpose. Pupils have experienced a range of textures and media to create marks related to our topic.

Text 2: Mad About Minibeasts - Giles Andeae

Next half term, we will be learning about lots of different minibeasts, how they move and the sounds they make.

Maths

Maths - We are learning and developing our skills linked to number, length, height and time. In maths we have been introduced to measuring using non-conventional tools, ropes, string, pipe-cleaners. We have been measuring our different body parts and comparing the lengths with our friends.

In Rebound during Maths pupils have been seeing how high they can jump and how long they can stretch when on the trampoline.

We have been learning about time through days of the week and copying actions; clapping hands, stamping feet.

During Maths Number we have been singing number songs linked to our mini beast topic adding one insect at a time using objects and numerals. We have been adding the numbers and objects in a range of wet and dry textures allowing the pupils to find the hidden numbers within the media. Pupils have been able to demonstrate their preference of the textures and show realisation of the number songs.
