Literacy in Spring 1: ‘Welcome Home Bear’ 

In our Communication, Language and Literacy lessons, Class 12's students have been independently creating their own animals based on the stories welcome home bear. The children are learning to engage in stimuli relating to the stories we have been loving using the water sprays and mixing it with soil to create the wet texture of the jungle where the orangutan lives. The children are using symbols to exchange for the object and some children are using symbols to answer comprehension questions such as ‘who do you see’.

Spring 2:

Literacy in Spring 2: ‘I love my Home’ 

In spring 2, our story will be ‘I love my Home’. This story is all about different animals and the habitats which they live in. Class 12 will be exploring new, different and exciting materials to help us experience the story. We  will also continue to use symbols to answer and communicate what is happening.

Mathematics - Number and Positional Language  

In our Maths lessons, Class 12 have been learning about numbers through a variety of activities in areas around school such as soft play, we have been engaging in a range of number related games. Within class we have been learning to match number quantities through games of who can fill their box with the correct amount of objects. 

In our Maths: Shape, Space & Measure lessons, we have been learning about positional language forward, backwards and side to side within our classroom and in rebound where we have joined in with fun activities to show our understanding of the words through physical activity i.e bum shuffling across the trampoline or doing side to side movements.

Spring 2

Mathematics - Number and Positional Language  

In spring 2, Class 12 will continue learning about numbers and engaging in exciting activities in different areas around school as well as the classroom to help us generalise the knowledge and skills. In our Maths: Shape, Space & Measure lessons, next term we will continue with positional language but we will be focusing on the positional words whilst in rebound working on moving our body left to right.

Personal, Social, and Emotional Development (PSED) 

During spring 2 In PSED, Class 12 will be learning about different people in our community and who is important to me, we will be identifying where people belong i.e picture of the team in class 12 in school and family pictures. 

Spring 2

Understanding the world (RE) - 

In spring 2, class 12 will be learning about Christianity and beginning to understand the different geometric shapes which are used in Christian artwork.

Understanding the World (Science) 

In our Science lessons, we have been learning through an experimental story about living things and their habitats. Class 12  have been exploring different habitats and answering comprehension questions about what animals live in each habitat.  Class 12 have also taken their learning outside the classroom to find animals that live in these habitats.

Spring 2

Understanding the World (Geography)

In spring 2, class 12 Understanding the World lesson will be Geography where Class 12 will be learning about animal habitats and being able to identify where animals need to live in order to survive experiencing the materials each animal needs in their habitats.

Expressive Arts and Design (Drama) 

Currently in our Drama lessons, we have been dressing up and performing ‘James and the Giant Peach’. Class 12 have enjoyed dressing as different characters and moving in different ways to represent them. Class 12 have been creating their own show of key aspects of James and the giant peach through copying actions and interpreting what movements each animal makes.

Spring 2

Expressive Arts and Design (Art) 

In spring 2, class 12 are learning about print making using natural resources. Class 12 will be using a range of tools we have in school and we find out in nature to create their own artwork and will be trying to create their own picture based on nature within Bradford we will also be comparing different areas around Bradford trying to identify the different colours in each area.

Physical Development (PE) - 

In our Physical Development lessons, this half term we have been learning about Ballroom dancing where we have been practising our Waltz and Foxtrot dance moves. We have been using different apparatus to help us create the movements of a Waltz and Foxtrot i.e using the big ball to practise moving and swaying side to side. We have been working with our friends to create joint movements together.

Spring 2

Physical Development (PE) - 

In spring 2, Class 12 will be learning about Bhangra dancing where we will be showing our best moves in this specific style. We are ready to wow everyone with our amazing dancing.

Understanding the world (RE) - 

In our RE lessons, Class 12 has been learning about how different people express their spirituality. We are currently learning about The 99 names of Allah such as ‘The Fashioner’, ‘All-hearing’ & ‘All-seeing’. As well as this, we are beginning to understand the different geometric shapes we can use to create our own Mosque.
