What have we learnt so far this term?

Communication

Text 1: Welcome Home Bear - Il Sung Na
This half term our story is all about a bear looking for a new home away from the forest, visiting birds in their nests and camels in the desert to find out his home was the perfect one for him!

Text 2: I Love My Home - Sebastien Braun
Next half term, our story of focus will be finding out why lots of different animals, such as squirrels and elephants love their own home and what makes each unique!

Our writing lessons are based on these stories of focus, pupils have been encouraged to create the different habitats developing their pincer grip by exploring different items and learning to pick them up. Pupils have created a bird's nest using twigs and leaves and made marks using chosen tools  in the soil digging like a mole!

Maths

Mathematics - Pupils are learning and developing their skills linked to number, position and direction! Using our multi-sensory approach to numbers, pupils are persisting in finding numbers in lots of different stimuli and then experiencing the number through the Delius number scents and making movements to represent each number found ! While engaging in activities linked to positional language, pupils are learning all about forwards and backwards. Pupils have used the positional language to go in search of the hidden animals and used the number scents to decide how many steps forward or backwards they need to move to find the hidden animals they can hear.
