Literacy  - Mad About Minibeasts - Giles Andeae

Communication, Language and Literacy - Through our stories, we are learning new language related to minibeasts, and developing our sentence building! We are focusing on using a programme called ‘Clicker’ to be able to aid our writing skills and help to build sentences.

Maths -   We are learning and developing our skills linked to number, length, height and time. We are particularly learning about the numbers 7, 8 and 9, exploring how they are made up and even that 2 numbers can be added together to make a bigger number! We are practically exploring length by measuring objects and comparing lengths!

Personal, Social, and Emotional Development (PSED) - 

We are learning about relationships and people who are special to us. We learning that people have different people who are special to them, eg. grandparents and family friends!

Understanding the world (Science) We are learning about living things and their habitats, including about minibeasts and their environments. We are also learning about human habitats and what we need to live!

Understanding the world (Geography)  - Next half term in Understanding the World, we are learning about minibeasts, with a focus of the creatures that we may find in Bradford. We will be doing lots of field work out in our garden and learning how to record our findings.

Understanding the World (RE) - We are learning about new life and how we celebrate when babies are born. We are learning about how special our names are, and how different religions have ‘naming ceremonies’. We wrote our own poems about our name too - celebrating our uniqueness!

Expressive Arts and Design (drama) -  Our EAD focus for the first half term is Drama. We are developing our drama skills by creating a permanence using the music of the ‘Ugly Bug Ball’ and ‘Flight of the bumblebee’.

Expressive Arts and Design (Art) - Next half term our focus in EAD will be Art. We will be developing our skills with drawing with a focus upon drawing different buildings around Bradford such as

Physical Development (PE) We are learning new skills linked to scarf and ribbon dancing and also parachute dances!
