Literacy in Spring 1: ‘Welcome Home Bear’ 

In our Communication, Language and Literacy lessons, Class 5 has been learning to engage in stimuli relating to our stories as well as using symbols to answer comprehension questions such as ‘who do you see’ and ‘what animal did you hear?’

Spring 2:

Literacy in Spring 2: ‘I love my Home’ 

Next term, our story will be ‘I love my Home’. This story is all about different animals and the habitats which they live in, where Class 5 will continue to use symbols to order and communicate what is happening.

Mathematics - Number and Positional Language  

In our Maths lessons, Class 5 have been learning about numbers through a variety of activities. We have been learning to match quantities to the numeral and they have been working hard . In our Maths: Shape, Space & Measure lessons, we have been learning about positional language (FORWARD & BACKWARD) where we have joined in with fun activities to show our understanding of the words.

Next term, Class 5 will continue learning about numbers and engaging in fun activities whilst counting quantities. In our Maths: Shape, Space & Measure lessons, next term we will continue with positional language but we will be focusing on the positional words (LEFT & RIGHT).

Personal, Social, and Emotional Development (PSED) 

In PSED, Class 5 has been learning about different cultures, respecting differences between people, and different languages. We have been doing this through the book ‘A World for You and Me’, using this book to help us understand the difference through lots of different activities.

In PSED, Class 5 will continue learning about different cultures, respecting differences between people, and different languages. We have done this through lots of fun and exciting resources as well as symbols for them to communicate their learning to adults.

Understanding the World (Science) 

In our Science lessons, we have been learning about living things and their habitats. Class 5 have been exploring different habitats making them  using wood and rocks and matching the animals to the right area. experiencing and engaging in lots of fun activities.

Understanding the World (Geography)

Next term, our Understanding the World lesson will be Geography where Class 5 will be learning about animal habitats and being able to identify where animals need to live in order to survive.

Understanding the world (RE) - 

In our RE lessons, Class 5 has been learning about how different people express their spirituality. We are currently learning about The 99 names of Allah such as ‘The Fashioner’, ‘All-hearing’ & ‘All-seeing’. As well as this, we are beginning to understand the different geometric shapes we can use to create our own Mosque.

Understanding the world (RE) - 

Next term, we will be learning about Christianity and beginning to understand the different geometric shapes which are used in Christian artwork.

Expressive Arts and Design (Drama) 

Currently in our Drama lessons, we have been dressing up and performing ‘James and the Giant Peach’. Class 5 have enjoyed putting on a show by dressing as different characters and moving in different ways to represent them. Class 5 have been using symbols to show which resource they need to become each character e.g. a magnifying glass for James. 

Expressive Arts and Design (Art) 

Next term, we are learning about print making using natural resources. Class 5 will be using a range of tools to create their own artwork and will be trying to create their own picture based on nature within Bradford.  And will be doing a trip to lister park.

Physical Development (PE) - 

In our Physical Development lessons, this half term we have been learning about Ballroom dancing where we have been showing off our best Waltz and Foxtrot dance moves. We have been learning about the different steps and how to move our bodies to different music genres, to help us we have been using mats so we know where to step with our feet.

Physical Development (PE) - 

Next term, we will be learning about Bhangra dancing where we will be showing our best moves in this specific style.
