Toilet Training Support for Parents and Carers

Our toilet training sessions are led by the Special Needs Nursing Team and are there to support parents/carers of Co-op Academy Delius in toilet training their children who have special needs.

Our toilet training sessions are led by the Special Needs Nursing Team and are there to support parents/carers of Co-op Academy Delius in toilet training their children who have special needs. A lot of children with disabilities can become clean and dry. We provide a safe space for discussion and provide resources and information.

We promote and support: Independence, Dignity, Personal control and reduce Vulnerability. Our key messages are: Consistency, Persistence, Positiveness and Patience.

See some parent feedback from the session below.

  • Was recommended by a parent who attended the toilet training previously at Delius and would recommend the toilet training to other parents too.
  • I thought I was the only parent struggling with toileting but when I attended the class I didn’t feel alone.  I went home and told my husband that we are not on our own.
  • I will definitely recommend the training to other parents.
  • We were given more tips and will be using the resources received from the toilet training.
  • Usually my husband doesn’t attend classes. This is the first class he attended and he really enjoyed it too.
