Nurses from the Special Needs Nursing Team hosted a parent workshop at Delius on how to toilet train and support their children with SEN. Syca, a former parent who now works at Co-op Academy Delius spoke to the parents about her experience of toilet training her 2 children with SEN.

“I liaised with my son’s class teachers at Delius to support me through the process in order to toilet train my son during the day.  We agreed on using the same techniques and symbols at home as well as school as this prevented my son from being confused and gave him a reward like a ‘well done’ sticker everytime he used the toilet.   With the help and support from Delius my son was off his pull-ups within a week.  I sought advice from the school to provide me with tips and any resources so he can stop wearing pull-ups at night.  And today he is pull-up free.”
