We enjoyed hosting the first session of our seven week (@barnardos) Cygnet Autism Parent Course at our BD3 site this morning. A fantastic way to support parents in our local community, share information and provide an environment to learn about all things Autism. Our Lead Trainers Matt and Jess had a great time working with parents from Delius Academy and also from Lapage Primay School and Dixon’s Marchbank School. We will be hosting more Cygnet courses throughout the school year. See more info below.

After taking feedback from a parent survey, this course will be on Tuesday mornings 9am until 12pm.

The dates are as follows: Tuesday 17th January, Tuesday 24th January, Tuesday 31st January, Tuesday 7th February, Tuesday 21st February, Tuesday 28th February, Tuesday 7th March.

It is delivered over seven 2.5 hour sessions. It will be hosted at the BD3 site and refreshments will be provided.

More about Cygnet:

Cygnet is a parenting support programme for parents and carers of autistic children and young people aged 5-18.

Parents of autistic children  face the usual positive and difficult challenges of parenting and quite a few more. Attending Cygnet gives parents and carers an opportunity to develop their understanding of autism and look at practical solutions to support their child.

It also provides the opportunity to meet other people in a similar position and hear about their experiences in an informal but supportive atmosphere.
