World Book Day

Our theme for World Book Day this year was a Fairytale Ball!

Our theme for World Book Day this year was a Fairytale Ball! There were characters from different fairy tales across school, including Little Red Riding Hood, Jack & The Beanstalk, and The Wizard of Oz! Pupils had a busy day full of fairytale themed learning, writing their own stories, engaging with sensory stories, story trails and even polished off a fabulous day with their very own Fairytale Ball in the hall! We love celebrating World Book Day, and promoting the love of books year on year!

Staff Special Readers

As part of our World Book Day celebrations, we had Staff Special Readers visit different classes across the school to share their favourite book with pupils! Our Special Readers were members of staff from across the school who might not always get the chance to sit and share a story with the pupils, including members of the Leadership Team, our lovely ladies in the office, and other key members of staff that make our school run smoothly! We even had one of our youngest Delius family members come to share!  We loved getting the opportunity to share our love of reading, and to take a moment to share a book!

Year 6

Pupils in our Rockets & Galaxy Pathways were treated to an extra special visit from some Year 6 pupils at LaPage Primary in the afternoon. The pupils came to read a book to our learners, building relationships by sharing a common interest! We loved their Book Day costumes, and being able to share our school with them too!

We also held a Story Writing competition this week as part of our World Book Day learning, with lots of classes entering their creative writing! We are very pleased to announce that we had a tie, with both Class 8 and Class 5 snagging the first place prize! Class 8 wrote a fabulous silly story with the whole class contributing their ideas, and Class 5 wrote a fantastic story about their World Book Day Adventure! A massive well done to both classes, and all who entered!
