In communication class 12 have been showing great skill to develop shared attention with others, by doing lots of paired work with our peers when exploring different textures linked to our book, the day the crayon quit.  We have also been working on our grasp when holding tools, learning how to make purposeful marks on the page, using different tools then letting go intentionally. We are making choices throughout all our sessions but especially in CLL we are making choices of what materials we prefer when creating out writing and saying yes and no to different textures within our story.

In Mathematics class 12 have been engaging in lots of fun activities with a focus on in and out. We have been going down to rebound every week for the children to take part doing in and out songs on the trampoline, creating their own movements on the bed. 

The children have also been engaging in a variety of activities that focus on the children independently pushing, pulling, putting and taking objects or sensory media in and out of things.

In PSED, class 12 have been focusing on health and wellbeing. We have been engaging in activities that keep us healthy such as following our physio plans, going in our standards and walking, stretching, warming up and down correctly and doing our daily exercise. We have also been promoting a healthy mental wellbeing, we have done this by doing sensory massage but giving choices of which song and giving consent throughout, allowing the children to make their own choices.

In Understanding the World, class 12 have been looking at using devices to take a photograph of ourselves and of our friends. We have been going around school to see who we can find to take a picture with. We have become expert at taking selfies.

In Expressive Arts and Design class 12 we have been creating beautiful music using a variety of different instruments, we have been exploring the keyboard and the xylophone, we have been creating high and low sounds, and showing which sounds we preferred. We have listened to some great songs within our music session to create our tunes too.

In Physical Development in PE we have been working on our circle dance skills, we have been doing lots of movement in our walkers and out on the floor, allowing us the independence to create our own circles using our arms and legs, with ribbons. We have also done our own versions of the hokey cokey and here we go round the mulberry bush.

In Communication, Language and Literacy, Class 12 have been learning about Traditional Tales. This half  term our story has been ‘Hansel and  Gretel’. We have been going to the library every week to read different stories the children have chosen. We have also been going on hunts following the witches trail, picking up giant sweets along the way. Each week we focus on different aspects of our sensory story, whether it was creating purposeful marks using a variety of grips with the mud, or making our witches potions using lots of nice ingredients.

In Mathematics class 12 have been engaging in lots of fun activities with a focus on over and under. We have been going on trails around school going under different sized domed that had lots of really engaging objects for the children to reach for. We have also been fishing. We used sensory fishes and the children had to reach over the tuff tray to put them back into the water.

In PSED, class 12 have been focusing on showing responsiveness when reacting to different stimuli and showing persistence when engaging in different activities. We have also been working very hard on forming meaningful relationships with the adults around me, through tac-pac by giving consent for each activity.

In Understanding the World, class 12 have been looking at special books, we brought in books from home that we enjoy to read. We have also created a special book of all our amazing work this term.

In Expressive Arts and Design class 12 have been creating castles, we have used a range of different materials including, wet, dry, rough, smooth, tough and smooth. We have been showing persistence to make clear choices of what we wanted in our castles.

In Physical Development in PE we have been working on our football skills, we have become very aware of when a ball is in their surroundings and has been working really hard to use different parts of our body to knock down the skittles or push the ball into the goal.
