Class 11

Spring

What have we learnt so far this term?

In class 11 we have been learning about ‘What is Art?’

Communication

In Communication, Language and  Literacy, we have been focusing on ‘Bob the Artist’ by Marion Denchars. During this story, we have been focusing on our choosing skills, showing clear preferences for our favourite part of the story and then decorating Bob’s beak and showing off our wonderful designs!
In Writing, we have focused on using tools to create our own masterpieces! We have created lots of fun designs for other birds like Bob and even used our skills to decorate his own colourful birdhouse - we hope Bob likes it!

Maths

In Mathematics we have been exploring different sensory coins through our senses such as touch or smell. We have explored wooden coins, plastic coins, shiny sen Over the term we have developed our investigation skills, using trial and error to drop our favourite sensory coins into our class wishing well!

PSHE

In PSHE we have been learning about staying safe. This has involved persisting in travelling around school using our individual methods of transport, such as walkers to show the adults around us our favourite areas and responding differently when we are in our favourite room. Class 11 especially loves the Sparkle Suite when showing preferences to areas within school!

Understanding the World

In Understanding the World we have been focusing on computing. This has been lots of fun for us as we have been accessing the Immersive Room, learning to initiate making marks on a touch screen (iPad) that we then see on the big screen in front of us! Each week we have been contributing to our own multimedia poster to inform a range of audiences about staying safe.

RE

In RE we have focused on religious Sikh temple music and experiencing how music is a big part of Sikh worship. This has involved us role playing what we need to do when entering a Sikh temple, such as washing our feet and then creating our own artist representation in response  to listening to the wonderful Sikh worship Music.

Expressive Arts and Design

In Expressive Arts and Design we have been experiencing making independent movements in response to music. By focusing on the ‘Masters’ in their craft, such as Abba, The Beatles and Elvis we have had lots of fun copying one step beats and moving to the music!

Physical Development

In Physical Development our focus this term has been Ballet. In Ballet we have been working on our individual physical targets while making and holding different shapes with our bodies. We have all really enjoyed learning all the moves ballerina’s do!
In the Galaxy Pathway, MOVE is at the heart of everything we do, doing our daily physio targets to develop our movements with purpose for everyday life, we have especially enjoyed playing instruments in music on the wedge and painting in our walkers with our feet!
