Ahoy there matey’s! We held our Stunning Start on Wednesday, and the whole school was turned into a wild sea, fit for an adventurer!

Our Summer Term topics are:
EYFS – Going to the Seaside
KS1 – Under the Sea – what lives in the sea?
KS2 – Pirates – have you got what it takes to be a pirate?

Pupils were transported to a world under the sea in our Immersive room, touching the sand, splashing in the water and meeting some fantastic sea creatures along the way!

We were surprised to see a Seaside had popped up in our Science Garden. We worked hard to fish some of the animals out the pond and to get all of the things we need for a trip to the Seaside ready!

In our ‘Indoor Outdoor Classroom’ we were challenged to work out what material we would like our sword to be made out of. Would a foam sword be stronger than a wooden sword?

Pirate School was in full swing in the Music & Drama room, with Captain Red Beard taking some time off of his ship to teacher our young adventurers the 5 steps to becoming a Pirate! Pupils were shown how to dress like a pirate, before learning some pirate slang with some even having to walk the plank!

In the hall we worked on our communication and creative thinking skills. We choose a sea creature, materials and colours by using colourful semantics or PECs to ask an adult for the things we wanted. There’s even going to be a display of all our fantastic sea creatures – so keep your eyes peeled for it around school!

After a busy day working out what our previous knowledge is and kick starting our topic, we can’t wait to continue our learning! Pirates Ahoy!!
